Months leading up to my Wedding Day, I started brainstorming on ideas for what to give Tommy on our Big Day. After a 10-year relationship, I think it’s safe to say, we’ve bought each other everything imaginable … watches, jackets, wallets, electronics, giftcards, Chia Pets, game tickets, clothes. I’m so joking about the Chia Pet, just wanted to see if you were paying attention 🙂

I wanted this gift to be special — something he’d look at 50 years from now that would remind him of June 26, 2009. That’s when the idea of doing a boudoir session came to mind. I’d never thought of doing one before, well frankly, I’d only seen the cheesy glamour shots you do at the mall. And that was not what I had in mine. But after several hours spent searching on the internet I came across blogs after blogs of some of the most sexy, beautiful, classy boudoir images ever. And that’s when I knew, it was the perfect Wedding Day gift for my sweetheart.

But what about my fat arms, thighs and gut? How the hell am I gonna do this and hide all this extra-ness?

Yep, that single thought consumed me everyday leading up to my session. And I’m not gonna lie, I worked out and dieted before my shoot, but even then, I still wasn’t close to being “boudoir-ready”. In my mind at least. But I went ahead and did it anyways, in fact I did two sessions. And my photographers introduced me to the fabulousness called Photoshop, LOL. Yes there are little tricks that can be done to smooth out small imperfections and highlight and accentuate the positives. I promise you girls, it’s better than diamonds! LOL.

Both of my boudoir experiences were amazing. No, amazin doesn’t quite cut it. It was exhilarating, such a confidence boost and freakin awesome! And yes, Tommy loved the pics. And the word LOVE is an understatement evidenced by his reaction when he opened the album on our Wedding Day …

Fast forward to a couple months ago when my boudoir experience came full circle as I hosted my first boudoir marathon. I had five awesome ladies to work with and each girl was simply gorgeous. And every single one of these girls had never done a boudoir session before so they came with the same doubts as me . . . what about my butt? . . . what about my stomach? . . . hide my thighs! . . . hide my gut!

And self-doubt, worries and all, every single one of these women rocked it out in front of the camera. You see my idea of boudoir is not raunchiness, what I try to achieve is classy, beautiful images that echo Victoria Secret style. It’s my job to draw out your Giselle Bundchen and Heidi Klum. Because yes, each woman has that sexiness in them. It’s just a matter of capturing it in motion and I revel in that challenge 😉
