When Tommy and I first started out on this wonderful photography adventure, we wondered how and when we would get the chance to shoot our first “real” event. Cause really, even though every single one of my family gatherings consists of at least 20+ loud and fun-loving Filipinos, shooting a “let’s get together and watch the Lakers’ game” gathering really wasn’t my idea of “event” photography 😉 Although I do have to say all our get-togethers are always eventful! *holla*

But then, Tommy’s good friend Becky reached out to us one day asking if we’d be willing to shoot her fiance’s mom’s surprise party. I can’t recall the exact dance I did when I first read her email, but I can tell you I squealed like a pig and did some sort of jig followed by an “OMG OMG OMG babe, Becky asked us to shoot Francisco’s mom’s surprise party!” Yes, that moment was quite monumental for us because it meant someone was entrusting us with a very important day in their lives and we couldn’t be more happy for the opportunity.

Fast forward … the party was more than we could have ever imagined, filled with beautiful surprises, tears, and lots of dancing. And from that moment on I knew, shooting some of the most joyful moments in a person’s life is what I wanted to do. Being amid a flurry of joy and utter happiness moved me … made me smile .. .made me laugh … made me cry. And I loved every minute of it.

A few months later, Becky and Francisco asked if we would document their Wedding Day. And again, the exact details of the ridiculous dance I did when I read her email is a little blurry in my mind, but I can tell you the same pig squeal, corny jig and a couple of OMG’s were likely included 😉

In February, Tommy and I had the pleasure of shooting their engagement session at UCLA — where the two of them first met. The afternoon was perfect and filled with many firsts …. our very first sporty action shots, our first time drinking wine out of mugs on a college campus, and the first time I actually realized that our photography adventure was slowly coming full circle because Becky and Francisco were really the ones who gave us our first “photography break.”

Becky + Franc, we are tremendously honored to be your wedding photographers and we truly cannot wait for your wedding in June. You two are like pieces to a puzzle, truly perfect for each other … and we are so excited that we will get to be a part of your big celebration 🙂 *hugs*
