A Beautiful Tapestry ~ Shilpa + Sid | South Asian Bridal Session

I am a wordsworth … I love the impact of words and the powerful beauty of language. Foreign accents often make me wish I was born in some exotic unknown isle in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, and raised by a French/Brazilian mother and Italian/British father, both of whom speak 8 languages, LOL πŸ˜€ I find simple delight in the way certain words sound and the meanings behind them. I guess that’s why being a reporter, and now a photographer, mesh so well in my life. I truly love the ability to tell stories with my thoughts, my words, my voice, and my pictures.

I know it might be weird, but I maintain an ever-evolving list of words that I like and I try to use them as much as I can … at work, in the pieces I write, in my conversations, in the thoughts in my head, in my blogs. I know I’m a total dork. But hey, I’ve never claimed to be cool now did I? πŸ˜‰

Well there are currently about 10 words on my “Love This” rotation, one of which is “tapestry.” I absolutely ADORE that word, I always have. And in my world, “tapestry” exudes visions in my mind of something so rich but delicate, simple yet intricate, and unequivocally beautiful.

A few months ago I was part of a South Asian inspired bridal shoot that has become my perfect vision of a beautiful tapestry …

Shilpa + Sid wore incredibly rich and colorful traditional threads from India adorned with the most exquisite native jewelry. You can only imagine how giddy I was when I first spotted this pair draped in such magnificent attire. But beyond that, the sunset on this Sunday afternoon was heavenly and … I don’t think I have to tell you, but these two are the epitome of gorgeousness.

Shilpa + Sid are both dancers so it was fun to see them fuse graceful movements in between their poses and interactions with one another.

Throughout the afternoon their bodies danced like colorful flowers swaying in the wind. His touch made her giggle, her laugh made his eyes sparkle. And with each wonderful snapshot I became more and more convinced a shoot this perfect had to be a dream …

Shilpa could you be anymore beautiful? You’re amazin πŸ™‚

And Sid, you are simply dashing and exude such a regal presence …

Shilpa + Sid thank you for sharing your time with me and being so darn picture perfect! You two are seriously a photographer’s dream. And now, when I use the word “tapestry” it will always be attached to an ethereal vision of beauty inspired by the two of you!

Special thanks to Victoria for organizing this wonderful bridal shoot and Shilpa’s mom for making sure her daughter’s lovely attire was always in perfect place. And I’d be totally remiss if I didn’t also express a HUGE thank you to stylistΒ Kathy of Shear Artistry Salon, who provided her amazing hair and makeup skills to ensure that Shilpa looked stunning throughout the shoot!! Kathy, you are the best and I hope to one day work with you again … perhaps on a South Asian wedding — that would be a fantastic!!!

I wish I could showcase every photograph from this shoot, but I think my blog would crash with the surreal amount of images I’d post, LOL. So instead, if you’d like to see more of this awesome session, click on the slideshow below and make sure your sound is up cause you know a slideshow is not a slideshow without music!!! So sit back relax and enjoy the slides, there are about 80 of em … I know lots huh?
