Our first engagement session this year was spent capturing the beautiful bond between Ruth and Taylor at Charles Wilson Park in Torrance, CA.

I first met Ruth in 2011 while I was looking to hire staff writers while I was working as the Lead Editor for Cerritos-Artesia Patch. During the interview process, I quickly learned she was a great writer and I was immediately drawn to her kind and sweet personality. I was also fascinated by her cultured background, having grown up in Brazil while her parents worked as missionaries and learning to speak Portuguese. She was my kind of girl — intelligent, worldly and an awesome writer with a knack for vivid storytelling. Ruth kicked butt with every story I gave her — she loved to write feel-good stories, always finding light and promise in each assignment 🙂

Fortunately, after our time together at Patch ended, we still remained Facebook friends (thank goodness for social media connections!) So when Ruth reached out to me earlier this year about shooting her wedding, I was totally ecstatic. Nothing means more to me than being able to photograph weddings for friends, colleagues and people I know personally — knowing they trust me to document one of the most important days of their lives, is always such an honor.

After we sat down with Ruth and Taylor for the first time, it was easy to see why these two were meant to be. Both of them are kind-hearted, fun-loving and they come from upbringings focused on serving God and others. These two are seriously the sweetest pair — we are always so blessed to work with the best couples!

The Location: Charles Wilson Park

Ruth and Taylor opted for a nature-inspired setting for the engagement photos — a space with lots of lovely greenery that echoed a sense of serenity. So this beautiful twosome chose Wilson Park for their photos, a place they had visited before and loved. And though it was our first time shooting there, we knew immediately that it was the perfect spot for these two sweethearts …
